Troy Kelley

Founder, Chief Executive Officer
As a co-founder and head of E-gineering’s Software Engineering practice, Troy brings technical depth and steady leadership to both clients and teams. With experience as a U.S. Navy Petty Officer, a degree in Computer Engineering from Purdue, and time spent consulting at Crowe Chizek, Troy is known for blending discipline with practical wisdom. He’s passionate about helping clients navigate complex technologies in cost-effective, sustainable ways, always keeping long-term business objectives in mind. Troy believes in empowering clients through transparency and education, often aiming to "work himself out of a job" by enabling their independence.

Nick Taylor

Founder, Chief Revenue Officer
Nick joined E-gineering in 2003 to lead business development, complementing the firm’s technical strengths with a strong focus on relationships and long-term client partnerships. With a Computer Science degree and Business minor from Indiana University, Nick has consulting experience at companies like Amoco and IPL, where he served in software development and systems analysis roles. At E-g, he helps align the right talent to the right business challenges, bridging client needs with E-g’s deep bench of experienced consultants. A committed husband and father, Nick’s life is shaped by his faith, family, and a strong sense of community. 

Andrew Peterson

Founder, Chief Financial Officer
Drawn to E-gineering’s founding mission of building a faith-aligned, people-first company, Andrew joined the leadership team in 2000. He holds a BA from DePauw University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue, with early career experience at the Naval Air Warfare Center on projects such as GPS avionics, V-22 Osprey systems, and maritime surveillance aircraft. After transitioning into software consulting at Crowe Chizek, Andrew helped shape E-g’s vision for organizational efficiency and operational simplicity. Today, he leads E-g’s financial strategy and implementation, applying his engineering mindset to define processes and build tools that help the company stay nimble, transparent, and mission-focused.

Don Taggart

Founder, Chief Data Officer
Don combines technical expertise with a deep commitment to employee experience and company culture. With a degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering from Purdue and a background in automation, controls, and JEE development, Don is focused on delivering solutions that meet business needs, without bias toward tools or trends.- As one of E-g’s founding owners, Don takes seriously his role as an advocate for employees and “champion of fun.” He’s passionate about making work joyful and meaningful, and he continually seeks to ensure company decisions are viewed through the lens of individual impact. For Don, strong culture and retention begin with people feeling seen, heard, and included in the company’s direction.
Our History

Rooted in Indiana and Integrity

E-gineering began with a spark of entrepreneurial energy in 1994, when Purdue students Mike Dickey and Troy Kelley launched a Linux CD distribution project with help from friend Don Taggart and funding from Don’s father Harvey. Though life commitments soon paused their plans, the vision never faded.

By late 1999, Mike, Troy, and Don were back in Indiana and revisiting their shared dream. Amidst the dot-com boom, their conversations turned toward building something different: a service-oriented tech consultancy grounded in integrity and purpose. In August 2000, E-gineering was officially formed. Shortly after, Andy Peterson joined as the fourth owner, bringing both technical and cultural alignment.

Early on, their approach was shaped by what they didn’t want from traditional consulting firms. But more importantly, they asked: What kind of company do we want to build? Their answer: one that honors people, leads with integrity, and reflects the golden rule in everything, from strategy to billing.

In 2003, Nick Taylor joined as the fifth owner, completing a leadership team united by a shared vision and complementary strengths. Since then, E-gineering has grown by hiring individuals who live out the E-g way: building strong client relationships through technical excellence and genuine care. The company was founded on the values of integrity, excellence, and people, a mantra that has guided every decision and still defines the company today.
